AJ Cook Talks to TV Guide About Her Return to CRIMINAL MINDS

AJ Cook recently spoke to TV Guide about her return to
CRIMINAL MINDS.
In an excerpt from the article in TV GUIDE online
she had this to say:

On CBS' Criminal Minds, FBI agent Jennifer "JJ" Jareau (A.J. Cook) doesn't always see the victims in her cases get happy endings. But in real life, she seems to have found one. After being let go from the show at the end of last season, reportedly as a cost-cutting measure, Cook just signed a deal to return to the series. She talked with TV Guide Magazine about her comeback.

TV Guide Magazine: When did you find out you were coming back?
Cook: We made the deal [April 15], but there have been whisperings for a while. The whole thing was so surreal, from being let go to getting asked to come back for two episodes, and then coming back again to do [co-star Paget Brewster's] last episode. I keep trying to have closure on this, but it keeps sneaking back in my life.

TV Guide Magazine: What was your first reaction when you learned you wouldn't be a regular anymore?
Cook: I had no idea it was coming. None of us did. I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt my feelings, but I chose to be me through the whole thing. And that's lead me back to where I started, but in a completely different way.

CRIMINAL MINDS ~ Missing Emily Prentiss

Many of the members of the Loving Moore and More Message Board really, really miss Paget Brewster since she left "Criminal Minds." Paget and co-star, SHEMAR MOORE, had fantastic chemistry in their scenes together. One of our members from the United Kingdom put together this fan video, showcasing their relationship.

CRIMINAL MINDS ~ On Shemar Moore's Birthday

Yesterday, April 21, was "Criminal Minds" star, SHEMAR MOORE's 41st birthday. Many of his fans, including his friends at www.lovingmooreandmore.com "tweeted" him birthday wishes. TEAM SHEMAR, as those of us at Loving Moore like to think of ourselves, tried hard to have SHEMAR trend on Twitter. We wanted him to know that he has a multitude of supporters who wish him the best, and appreciate the fine work he does in his role as Derek Morgan on CM. We were delighted when we saw this response from SHEMAR.

CRIMINAL MINDS ~ Fans Don't Like Change ~ Rachel Nichols

SHEMAR MOORE and Rachel Nichols on the set of
"Criminal Minds"
Rachel as Agent Ashley Seaver

People don't like change and many CRIMINAL MINDS fans were upset by the recent cast changes. Some folks got downright hostile about A.J.Cook and Paget Brewster leaving the series.

Enter Rachel Nichols, a beautiful young actress hired to become part of the BAU. As an outstanding rookie agent (shades of Clarice Starling in "The Silence of the Lambs"), Nichols was to open the series to new story line possibilities. As Seaver, Nichols comes with an interesting backstory. She's the daughter of a serial killer. Also, she seems to have a special bond with SSA David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), although the details of that story hasn't been explored yet.

The actress, a veteran of two other TV series ("Alias" and "The Inside") seems competent enough, as demonstrated by the episodes where her character was centric. She has definite charisma in her scenes with Mantegna, but then, Joe makes everybody look good. We need to see more of her interacting with the rest of the cast to make a judgment about her chemistry with them. Sadly, we may never get the opportunity.

The word is that A.J. Cook is negotiating with CBS to come back to CRIMINAL MINDS and Paget Brewster may be back as well. We love A.J. and Paget, too, but what does this mean for Nichols? How many women does the BAU need on one team?

Oh, and the haters are salivating. They would like to see Nichols dumped. They acted like it was her fault that CBS decided to fiddle with the cast. They never gave her or her character a chance. Many of the remarks made on some CRIMINAL MINDS message boards and blogs were vicious. Some of us at LOVING MOORE were appalled at the way this actress has been treated.

Judging by her interviews and her "tweets," she seems like a sweet person. She hasn't deserved all of the venom that has been spewed at her. We don't know what lies ahead for her future with CRIMINAL MINDS, but we wish her the best with whatever projects she works on. Hugs, Rachel!

CRIMINAL MINDS Buzz ~ Jayne Atkinson Signed

Buzz is that Jayne Atkinson, bitchy, foreboding Section Chief Erin Strauss on CRIMINAL MINDS, has already signed to do several episodes next season. Strauss, the character we love to hate and Hotch's nemesis, told him in "The Stranger" that she was dealing with "personal issues," and Hotch (Thomas Gibson) may have to do her job. Hum....

We're also waiting to hear the history between David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) and Strauss. There's a reason why he is the only one who calls her "Erin," and is the one agent not even a little bit intimidated by her. Still hoping they are ex-lovers. Oh, it would be so much fun!

CRIMINAL MINDS ~ Nicholas Brendon in Season Finale

Nicholas Brendon, who has been Derek Morgan's (SHEMAR MOORE) competition for the fair Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) on CRIMINAL MINDS, will be appearing in the Season Finale. The cast and crew are now on location filming the last episode of the season, which will air on May 18. Brendon has had a recurring role on MINDS as Kevin Lynch, a computer tech as quirky as Garcia herself. We have only seen him once this season. We missed him at Emily's funeral. Glad to have you back, Kev!

You can read more about Nick and his return to CRIMINAL MINDS on his blog.

CRIMINAL MINDS ~ Dallas Clark' Behind the Scenes Video

Indiana Colts star, Dallas Clark, makes his acting debut tonight
(April 13) on CRIMINAL MINDS. The football great plays
police officer, Austin Kent, in an episode called "The Stranger."

CRIMINAL MINDS stars and football fans, Joe Mantegna and SHEMAR MOORE (pictured above), especially seemed to enjoy having Dallas on set.

Clark was featured in a Behind-the-Scene video available here:

CRIMINAL MINDS ~ Nicholas Brendon Has a Birthday

Penelope Garcia's (Kirsten Vangsness) geeky boyfriend Kevin Lynch is celebrating a birthday today.

Nicholas Brendon is turning forty!

Brendon has a recurring role on CRIMINAL MINDS, although he was only seen in one episode in Season 6. We missed him at Emily's funeral, but we heard he ate two of the cupcakes Garcia baked for Seaver's graduation party.

The Morgan/Garcia shippers hate him for giving Derek (SHEMAR MOORE) competition for the fair Penelope. LOVING MOORE enjoys the character he plays on MINDS and we're hoping to see more of him in the future. It might be fun to see him in the midst of a crime. Could there be a serial killer who targets computer techs?

Looking forward to seeing him on CRIMINAL MINDS, or whatever his next project may be.

Happy Birthday, Nick!

CRIMINAL MINDS ~ Oh, The Angst ~ Just 4 Episodes Left

It is hard to believe that there are only four new episodes of CRIMINAL MINDS left until the end of Season 6. It seems like just yesterday that Derek Morgan (SHEMAR MOORE) fans were cringing while evil Billy Flynn (Tim Curry) kicked our handsome hero in the head in "The Longest Night." Please don't hurt Derek!

Now, the endless wait. Will CRIMINAL MINDS be renewed for a seventh season? Will SHEMAR MOORE and Thomas Gibson be back? What will happen next to our favorite profilers after the season finale? Will we ever see Emily or JJ again? Oh, the angst!

Here is the schedule for the rest of the current season.

April 27 ~ "JJ" (repeat)

CRIMINAL MINDS ~ The BAU Deals With Loss

Kudos to CRIMINAL MINDS writer, Jeff Davis, for "Hanley Waters," who wrote a riveting script dealing with loss and grief.

When dealing with the BAU's recent loss, he realized that it would be Derek Morgan (SHEMAR MOORE) who was most affected by the death of Emily Prentiss.

Everyone in last night's episode did a remarkable job. Of course, it will likely go unnoticed since CRIMINAL MINDS is usually underrated.

Kelli Williams ("Lie to Me," "The Practice") gave a heartfelt performance as a grief-stricken mother. While most people dealing with a tragedy aren't driven to go on a killing spree, she made it believable. She made you cry.

Also emotional were the scenes of Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) counseling his team on their feelings about the loss of Emily Prentiss. Sweet Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) choses to remember only the good, while Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) was like a lost little boy.

Hotch couldn't presume to counsel David Rossi (JoeMantegna), the seasoned profiler who has seen and experienced everything in his long career. It was appropriate that Rossi talks to Hotch about his own loss.

It was Derek Morgan who was most often partnered with Emily Prentiss in the field. It was Derek who held her hand as she lay dying. He tells Hotch "she was my friend. She died right in front of me." SHEMAR MOORE made you feel every moment of Derek's gut wrenching anguish, and LOVING MOORE can't praise him enough. Way to go, Shemar!

CRIMINAL MINDS ~ Tonight Kelli Williams Guest Stars

Kelli Williams, formerly of "The Practice" and "Lie to Me" is the guest unsub tonight on CRIMINAL MINDS. In an episode entitled "Hanley Waters," a soccer mom (Williams) goes on a killing spree. Also, the team deals with their feelings on losing Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster). Since SSA Derek Morgan (SHEMAR MOORE) was the person closest to Prentiss, SHEMAR fans are anxious to see how our favorite profiler has been affected.

Airs at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.

CRIMINAL MINDS ~ Just a TV Show? Fans Don't Think So

These are hard times for many people. The mid-East is on fire. Our soldiers are fighting in three wars. There have been devastating natural disasters. Unemployment is high. Inflation is rising. Oil prices go up every day. In the United States, the left and the right are polarized, and the list goes on and on. With so many problems in the world, how important is a little TV program that you watch on a Wednesday night? The answer: VERY important.

In a troubled world, it is nice to have an occasional escape. CRIMINAL MINDS, to avid fans, provides a diversion from the day to day struggles we all face. In the fictional world of the Behavioral Analysis Unit, attractive people (eye candy is always nice) face unspeakable evil, but good (usually) triumphs in the end.

We can love our Agent Derek Morgan (SHEMAR MOORE) for his leadership and compassion. We can appreciate the patriarchal Agent Rossi (Joe Mantegna), for his calm, steady insight. Quirky Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), and even more quirky Computer Tech, Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness), make us smile while they solve a case. Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) scowls while he directs the team, and beautiful women cast members, past and present, show us that women can be heroes, too. Oh, it is a dark but intriguing world!

LOVING MOORE AND MORE...is primarily a SHEMAR MOORE website (hence the double OOs in LOVING MOORE). At LOVING MOORE, we are anxiously counting down the days until CBS announces the 2011-12 Schedule. Will our beloved series return for a seventh season? SHEMAR MOORE fans are nervously waiting for word that our Morgan will be back fighting crime next season.

We have been delighted with Derek Morgan's expanded role in Season 6. SHEMAR has become a competent, mesmerizing actor, who has come a long way since his early awkward days on "The Young and the Restless."

Did Thomas Gibson deserve an Emmy nomination for "100" a couple of years back? His fans thinks so, but SHEMAR MOORE deserves a Best Supporting Actor nod for his work in the past few seasons. Especially riveting were SHEMAR's scenes with Paget Brewster, that led up to her exit from the series.

With a sigh of resignation, we will wait for word on the fate of our show, but it is so doggone hard. If other restless fans would like to communicate with like minds, visit our Message Board at www.lovingmooreandmore.com.

It is going to be a long few weeks.
