CRIMINAL MINDS ~ More Good News/Bad News

The CRIMINAL MINDS "sisters" Kirsten Vangsness, AJ Cook, Paget Brewster

The bastard child ~ Rachel Nichols

With the breaking news that Paget Brewster will be returning to her role as Emily Prentiss on CRIMINAL MINDS, long time fans are rejoicing.

AJ Cook returned to the MINDS family in the Season Six Finale which aired on May 18. The BAU sisters are back together. They never should have been separated, but some idiot at the network got the bright idea to diddle with the program. We won't mention any names but we're pretty sure the initials are NT.

So who's the victim in all of this. Well, the fans who were attached to favorite characters and saw no reason for the "diddling" felt victimized.

And, pretty Rachel Nichols, a competent young actress who didn't do a damn thing wrong but show up for work, say her lines, and do her best with the CRIMINAL MINDS character as it was written for her. She did a good job when given something meaningful to do, and seemed to be developing a nice chemistry with Joe Mantegna and SHEMAR MOORE.

Unfortunately, Rachel caught the backlash from unreasonable fans who felt she was replacing AJ Cook. We were often appalled at the venom spewed at Ms. Nichols, who was never accepted and generally treated like a bastard child.

With the rehiring of Paget Brewster, Rachel Nichols is out of a job. She didn't deserve the way she has been treated and we wish her the best with her new endeavors.

Maybe they should diddle with some jobs at the network?

How about firing the programming idiot who screwed up our CRIMINAL MINDS in the first place, and then gave us that awful spin-off CRIMINAL MINDS: SUSPECT BEHAVIOR.

Hire someone smart enough to know that if something isn't broke, you don't fix it.

  1. I feel for the actress, I do, but calling fans that didn't like the character unreasonable is a bit much. I do feel that she got the short end of the stick and CBS really f-ed up. I wish her well in future endeavors but lets not forget she wasn't the only one mistreated. She spent less than a year on the show where veteran actresses that had given years to the crime drama were also forced off in one way or another. It was really quite silly for them to push a JJ look alike on grieving fans so soon. It wasn't Rachel's fault, and she didn't deserve the treatment, but neither did the others. I can honestly see why fans lashed out. (not including any that may have attacked the actress personally) You're right though, CBS should never have messed with a great show in the first place. Hopefully, this will cause them to give pause in any major future decisions. And that video RN fans made for her was really beautiful. I think her career is better for the time spent on the show. Not wasted. She's lucky to have so many devoted fans.
