Criminal Minds ~ When Did SHEMAR MOORE Learn To Act?

SHEMAR MOORE as Agent Derek Morgan
SHEMAR and A.J.Cook

When did SHEMAR MOORE learn to act?

Looking back on his early days on "The Young and the Restless," he wasn't much of an actor. But, he smiled that engaging smile of his, and had plenty of gratuitous shirtless scenes, so his lack of acting skill didn't matter.

He must have improved by 2000, because he won a daytime Emmy. We were concentrating on career by then and didn't have time for soaps, so we didn't notice.

We didn't realize that SHEMAR had learned to act until the night in December, 2006, when the CRIMINAL MINDS episode, "Profiler, Profiled," first aired on CBS. We were blown away by his stunning portrayal of a sexual abuse victim, who'd kept his shame and guilt a secret for twenty years. After the emotional scene where he confronts his abuser, we were blown away.
When did "Malcolm" learn to act like that?

We've paid more attention to his work since then. SHEMAR has become a good, solid actor, who can hold his own with the best of them, and he has.

We've read many reviews of the Season Six Premier of CRIMINAL MINDS, most of them favorable. Tim Curry was praised for his chilling portrayal of serial killer, Billy Flynn. Everyone was blown away by A.J. Cook's sensitive, sincere scenes, that left us wondering. "What the hell was CBS thinking when they fired her?"

There was a lot of talk about young Isabella Murad, who played Ellie Speicer, although most of the buzz was about the strange expression the kid had on her face through most of the episode.

There wasn't much mention of SHEMAR by reviewers. His character, Agent Morgan, has evolved over the past seasons. He's far less flirtatious and doesn't smile often. It is as though Derek's soul has grown dark and troubled from the horrors he has seen. The cold, angry Derek who shot (murdered?) Billy Flynn was adeptly acted by SHEMAR.

It is likely that SHEMAR MOORE will never get the respect he deserves as an actor. CRIMINAL MINDS is largely ignored at Emmy time. SHEMAR won't ever be considered for a Best Supporting Actor nomination. Heck, he's barely mentioned in the series reviews.

LOVING MOORE wants to send a shout out to SHEMAR MOORE. Some of us have noticed, SHEMAR. You're absolutely doing something right.
So much so, that we named our blog after you. You'll notice that our LOVING MOORE is spelled with two OO's.

Today Is The Season Premier Of CRIMINAL MINDS

The long awaited Season Six Premier of CRIMINAL MINDS is finally here. Tonight we see the fate of our hero, Derek Morgan.

When last we saw Agent Morgan, his wrists and ankles were duct taped, and the unsub, a deliciously evil Tim Curry, was kicking him in the face.

Interesting, however, that our Derek still managed to look smokin' hot, even with a gash on his head, and blood on his lips.

Tonight we get all of our questions answered.

Is Detective Speicer dead?
(Yeah, probably, since Eric Close isn't listed in the credits.)

Will Morgan save Speicer's young daughter?

Will Derek be traumatized by guilt over what happened?
(We're here for you, Baby!)

Will the BAU track down the serial killer and bring him to justice?

Will Morgan (SHEMAR MOORE) look as handsome as ever, even with his cuts and bruises? (We're betting he will. His face probably won't even be swollen.)

Tonight/Wednesday, September 22 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
Hooray!

Also, today is the grand opening of the LOVING MOORE Message Board. The new site is devoted to SHEMAR MOORE, Criminal Minds and the stars, and more.

LOVING MOORE Blog has expanded. Just in time for the Season Six Premier, we have opened the LOVING MOORE AND MORE...Message Board. We are still under construction, but we are open for business. We discuss everything SHEMAR MOORE related, CRIMINAL MINDS, and more...

2 Days And Counting To The Season Premier Of CRIMINAL MINDS

Alex O'Loughlin as serial killer, Vincent
in "The Big Wheel" on CRIMINAL MINDS
Sexy Alex
Even sexier SHEMAR MOORE

There are only two more days remaining until the CRIMINAL MINDS Season Six Premier. To make the waiting just a little easier, tonight (September 20) we have the premier of HAWAII FIVE-O.

The series stars man candy, Alex O'Loughlin (Moonlight, Three Rivers).

From the previews of the program they have been showing, it looks like it has as much action as an episode of "24" but with a more charismatic cast (Alex, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim), and much more humor. We at LOVING MOORE were big fans of "24" but we don't remember laughing much at the series. Jack Bauer saving the country from terrorist plots was deadly serious business.

In the pilot episode, McGarrett (Alex O) returns to Hawaii to investigate his father's murder, he is recruited by the governor (Jean Smart) to head up an elite new police task force. Their first case involves tracking a weapons dealer connected to McGarrett's father's murder. Alex looks far more attractive in the new show, than when he played Vincent, an obsessive-compulsive serial killer in "The Big Wheel," on CRIMINAL MINDS. There seems to be plenty of gratuitous shirtless scenes, so that we can fully appreciate the beauty that is Alex O'Loughlin.

LOVING MOORE has also posted a photo of SHEMAR MOORE, who is Number One on our man candy list, and this is, after all, a primarily a SHEMAR MOORE site.

HAWAII FIVE-O premiers tonight (Monday) September 20, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. CRIMINAL MINDS airs on Wednesday, September 22, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Matthew's New Gig ~ Matthew Gray Gubler

Matthew Gray Gubler, TV's Dr. Spencer Reid on CRIMINAL MINDS, will lend his voice to a new character in the next DC Universe Animated Original Movie. It is based on DC comics 12 issue comic book series, "All Star Superman."
The award winning series was written in 2005.

The premise of the comic book follows The Man of Steel as he is oversaturated by radiation during a rescue mission near the sun, accelerating the degeneration of his cells. Knowing that he has a limited time before he dies, Superman sets out on a journey that sees him revealing his secret identity to Lois Lane.

In addition to Gubler, voices in the film are James Denton, Christina Hendricks, Anthony LaPaglia, and Ed Asner.

"All Star Superman," the animated feature, will be available in Spring 2011.

Matthew Gray Gubler was also the voice of Simon in two "Alvin and the Chipmunk" movies, and he is featured in Disney's latest animated film, "Tangled," coming November 24.

4 Days And Counting To The Season Premier of CRIMINAL MINDS

There are only four days until the CRIMINAL MINDS Season Six Premier.
If the suspense is getting to you, here is a sneak peak from CBS.

There are only three days until the opening of the LOVING MOORE AND MORE Message Board. Details will be posted on Monday, September 20.

The CRIMINAL MINDS Premier is Wednesday, September 22.

Spoiler from video: Morgan's okay. Just has a bandage on his head, but he's helping with the investigation. Rah!

5 Days And Counting To The Season Premier Of CRIMINAL MINDS

object width="560" height="340">

With only five days left until the Season Six Premier of CRIMINAL MINDS, we recap the Season Five Finale, "Our Darkest Hour."

Wow! All we can say is that Tim Curry is one skeezy unsub. We really want to hiss and boo at him for hurting our Derek Morgan/SHEMAR MOORE.

Nice to see Detective Speicer/Eric Close in this clip, who is probably dead since he isn't in the promo video, or on the guest cast list of the Season Six Premier. Heard he has a new gig on an upcoming series called "Chaos." He has been a LOVING MOORE favorite since his "Without a Trace" days.

This is a CBS video, so you have to sit through a thirty second mayonnaise commercial to see it, but the wait is almost over. Season Premier is Wednesday, September 22!

Just because this is primarily a SHEMAR MOORE site,
the sweet face of Shemar's CM character, Derek Morgan.

Matthew Gray Gubler, CRIMINAL MINDS' Dr. Spencer Reid, is a very unconventional character on television and in real life. You can tell by the quirky photos he frequently "tweets" and by his Twitter and FaceBook pages. He'll make you smile, for sure. Be sure to check them out.

Yesterday, he tweeted a photo of himself and his mother. He was a very pretty youngster. As his co-star SHEMAR MOORE said, "Matthew is pretty like a girl. A couple of drinks in me, I might date him."

SHEMAR is still the only CRIMINAL MINDS cast member without a verified Twitter page.

7 Days And Counting To The Season Premier Of CRIMINAL MINDS

Paget Brewster and Matthew Gray Gubler
Cowgirl Paget?
Paget and SHEMAR MOORE on set
Elegant Paget

As LOVING MOORE counts down the last seven days to the Season Six Premier of CRIMINAL MINDS, we take a look at Paget Brewster, who plays SSA Emily Prentiss. The word is this is Paget/Emily's last season. We're going to miss her.
Our Prentiss is one tough chick, and we could use more women like her on TV.

In "Minimal Loss," she took a beating from a crazy, religious cult leader (Luke Perry) and still managed to aid in the rescue of his followers. "In Name And Blood," she was a hero again, going into the home of a killer (Eddie Cibrian) to rescue the woman he held captive. She often backs up Agent Morgan/SHEMAR MOORE in dangerous situations. She displayed her mental acuity in episodes like "Seven Seconds."

So, naturally, we can see why CBS wants to get rid of the character!!

Paget Brewster was born in Massachusetts on March 10, 1969. Yep, she's over forty. Who would have guessed?

She was a veteran of several previous television series, including "Friends," "Huff," and "Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law," before landing the role on CRIMINAL MINDS. She does voices on "American Dad," including Sexy Robot.

The actress is single but often "tweets" about a boyfriend.
She has a wonderful sense of humor, as shown in many of her interviews on YouTube. One of the best is this one with Conan O'Brian.

CRIMINAL MINDS Season Six Premier is September 22.

Kirsten Vangsness of CRIMINAL MINDS Interview

In a brand new interview, CRIMINAL MINDS star, Kirsten Vangsness, talks about her television character, her clothes, acting and her upcoming role on the new CRIMINAL MINDS spin-off series. Here is part of the interview, when asked about the her relationship with her cast mates, and her relationship with Derek Morgan.

Q: Do you and your fellow cast members hang out much off the set?

A: Yes, we do. I go to Paget's house for wine and cheese a lot. The whole gang always goes to any plays that I do. AJ went one time when she was 8 months pregnant! Shemar always comes at least twice and sits in the front. It's very sweet. We really adore each other in real life. We all go to Joe's (Rossi's) house during the holidays. I just went to Disneyland with Thomas (Hotch) and his family...

Q: On the show, Garcia loves all her team mates, but seems to have a soft spot for Morgan (SHEMAR MOORE) ~ How do you define the special bond they have?

A: I think they are soulmates!

8 Days And Counting To The Season Premier Of CRIMINAL MINDS

FIVE GOOD REASON TO BUY THE CRIMINAL MINDS DVDS

1~There are no commercials, or any of those obnoxious pop-ups at the bottom of the screen, advertising another program.

2~There are always nifty extras, showing the cast and crew at work, and giving us insight into the production of the series. Plus, there are the wonderful gag reels that show how personable our CRIMINAL MINDS stars really are.

3~The moral police at ION or AETV aren't editing out the cuss words. If you are old enough to watch a program with graphic violence, that's primarily about serial killers, you're old enough to hear words like "hell," "damn," or "son-of-a-bitch."

4~If you have the DVDs, you can look at SHEMAR MOORE any time you'd like. You can even have SHEMAR MOORE marathons. Oh, the joy!

5~You can watch the DVDs in slow motion, fully appreciating every flex of SHEMAR's well-toned body. The man moves like a panther stalking his prey. It is a glorious sight to behold. Grrrowl!

The CRIMINAL MINDS Season Six Premier is September 22.

Busy CRIMINAL MINDS Star Attends ~~ Everything!

If there is a charity event, opening, or awards show, CRIMINAL MINDS star, Joe Mantegna, seems to be there. He is a man who should be applauded for his patriotism and charity work. If it is a worthwhile event, look for Joe.

Most recently, he turned up at Gordon Edelstein's revival of Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie," opening on September 12 at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. He is pictured about with Scott Bakula, who was also among the celebrities attending.

For more information on the play:

On September 11, Joe and his beautiful daughter, actress Gia Mantegna attended the premier screening of "Fred: the Movie," based on the popular internet character. The movie was shown at the Paramount Theater in Hollywood, CA. It will premier on Nickelodeon TV on September 18.

9 Days And Counting To The Season Premier Of CRIMINAL MINDS

Thomas Gibson, not Aaron Hotchner
From "Psycho Beach Party"
Tom in "Dharma and Greg"

Tom and his dog

As LOVING MOORE counts down the last nine days until the Season Six Premier of CRIMINAL MINDS, we pay tribute to the fine actor who portrays SSA Aaron Hotchner, Unit Chief of the Behavioral Analysis Unit.

"Hotch" is the epitome of an FBI agent, strong, stoic, professional, but utterly humorless. He is a strict leader, and the glue that holds the team together.

Hotch is portrayed by Thomas Gibson, who, like co-star SHEMAR MOORE, began in television with roles in the soap operas, "As The World Turns" and "Another World." He went on to star in the prime time series, "Chicago Hope" for three years. Next, he played straight man to Jenna Elfman in the comedy series "Dharma and Greg." His movie credits include "Psycho Beach Party," another comedy role.

His role on CRIMINAL MINDS proves that Tom is as proficient as a dramatic actor as he is in comedy. There are many who believe that he should have received an Emmy nod for his work in MINDS, and especially the episode, "100," playing the husband of a murdered wife.

In real life, Thomas is as traditional as his character. He and his wife, Christine, have four children and reside in Christine's hometown of San Antonio, Texas. He avoids the Hollywood scene, and spends his spare time playing golf. The actor turned forty-eight on July 3, but has a boyish look when he smiles, that makes him appear younger than his years.

The funny, personable, very real side of Tom is clearly shown in the Season Five gag reel just out on DVD. Here is the link to view:

Kirsten and Melanie in a Gay Pride Parade
Kirsten and partner, Melanie Goldstein
With Derek Morgan (SHEMAR MOORE)
in her role as Penelope Garcia on CRIMINAL MINDS

Hey, Red!
Kirsten changed her look earlier this year.

With ten days left until the Season Six Premier of CRIMINAL MINDS, LOVING MOORE gives a nod to another member of the outstanding CM family~
Kirsten Vangsness.

Kirsten, a fan favorite, managed to turn a part-time gig on CRIMINAL MINDS into a weekly featured role. She was well-received from the onset because of her fantastic chemistry with the cast members, especially with SHEMAR MOORE'S character, Derek Morgan.

Kirsten is an accomplished writer and her work has been featured in the Los Angeles Times Magazine. She is a member of Theater of NOTE in LA, and in 2005 won the LA DRAMA CRITICS AWARD for Best Emerging Comedic Actress. She continues to do live theater when not working on CRIMINAL MINDS.

Born on July 7, 1972, in Pasadena, California, Kirsten is engaged to film editor, Melanie Goldstein, who's credits include the acclaimed series, "24."

In addition to CRIMINAL MINDS, Kirsten will reprise her role as Garcia in the upcoming spin-off series, scheduled to premier in January, 2011.

In an often dark program, our Penelope Garcia is our ray of sunshine.

11 Days And Counting To The Season Premier Of CRIMINAL MINDS

Above ~ Spoiler photos from "JJ"
The CRIMINAL MINDS sisters
Kirsten Vangsness, A.J.Cook, Paget Brewster

There are only eleven more days to the CRIMINAL MINDS Season 6 Premier, and eighteen days to the A.J. Cook Kiss-off episode. Spoiler photos are out from the upcoming program, to air on September 29. Apparently, someone is going to make JJ a job offer she can't refuse, according to the episode description. Good-bye little sister.

Well, at least that doesn't sound like as lame a plot as "she wants to spend more time with her baby," but not as drastic as having her shot in the line of duty. Of course, that might have been interesting, having JJ die a hero's death.

Whatever...

So, Ed Bernero, how do you feel about this? Your silence is deafening.

The CRIMINAL MINDS Family

Executive Producer, Edward A. Bernero
Ed and Joe Mantegna at the CRIMINAL MINDS 100th episode party.

As we count down the last twelve days to the CRIMINAL MINDS Season Six Premier, we pay tribute to the man behind the scenes, Executive Producer, Edward A. Bernero.

Ed, as a former Chicago police officer, began penning scripts in his downtime on the job. After ten years as a beat cop, he began his television career as a freelance writer for the series, "Brooklyn South." He created the series "Third Watch," based on his experiences as a police officer, and was producer, writer and director for the program.

Ed then became executive producer for the CBS series, CRIMINAL MINDS. He has written and directed several episodes of the series, including the upcoming Season 6 Premier, "The Longest Night," coming on September 22.

It has been appreciated by fans that Ed has been very much in touch with them over the years. Interesting, however, that he has been strangely quiet over the recent firing of A.J. Cook and the reduced role for Paget Brewster on MINDS. Since he is generally very vocal, LOVING MOORE cannot help but wonder about his silence. Is he behind A.J.'s firing, or at least complicate? We would like to hear more from Ed on this topic. He has a chat scheduled with fans this week, but we're betting he isn't going to address the issue.

The cast members and Ed look like a happy family in the top photo, which was taken on A.J.'s last day. Ed? WTF?

13 Days And Counting To The Season Premier of CRIMINAL MINDS

Model Matthew
Ooh! Matthew shows a nipple.
Gube muscle
Interesting fashion statement
Matthew gets better with age.

THE UNLIKELY SEX SYMBOL

As we count down the days until the season 6 premier of CRIMINAL MINDS, LOVING MOORE pays tribute to Matthew Gray Gubler. Known affectionately as "The Gube," Matthew plays Dr. Spencer Reid, the youngest member of the BAU team.

While this blog is primarily devoted to SHEMAR MOORE/Derek Morgan, we painfully have to admit that the word is that Matthew is the most popular actor on the series.

LOVING MOORE loves Matthew too, but we are tempted to giggle when we think of him as a sex symbol.

Matthew doesn't have the classic handsomeness of Thomas Gibson/Aaron Hotchner, or the sex appeal of SHEMAR MOORE/Derek Morgan, but he has an allure all of his own. MGG portrays Reid with a touching naivety that women find very pleasing. Besides, nerds are in right now.

Matthew was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 9, 1980. He began his career as a runway model before securing the role on CRIMINAL MINDS. He is a fine actor, but his first love is directing. In 2009, he directed an episode of MINDS entitled "Mosley Lane."

As quirky in real life as his on screen character, the humor of Matthew Gray Gubler can be appreciated by viewing "Matthew Gray Gubler: The Unauthorized Documentary" which is available on YouTube. There are six parts to this hilarious series of short films.

Here is the link to Part 2, which features SHEMAR MOORE.
